South Media Recruitment & Fundraising Day

South Media Fire company invites all to attend our recruitment and fundraiser day on Saturday, September 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Acme parking lot located at Baltimore Pike and Beatty road in Media. All company vehicles will be on display and all area residents will have the opportunity to see how all equipment operates. There will be two live vehicle rescue demonstrations the first being held at 11 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m. In addition we will also have fire extinguisher,  fire hose demonstrations and childrens activities throughout the day. Our objective is to educate residents on fire safety, raise funds for safer fire equipment, as well a recruit new members to join the South Media team. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Accident with confinement

Today At 12:48 township fire companies were dispatched to the blue route for an accident involving multiple cars. Medic 106 was the first to arrive to find numerous patients and 1 subject confined to their vehicle. 65-1 was next to arrive under the command of Battalion Chief George Moore. Rescue 51 arrived shortly after under the command of Asst. Chief Eichelman. Asst. Chief Eichelman established command and crews from 65 and 51 worked together to quickly remove the patient from their vehicle.

It is with great sadness that the officers and members of the South Media Fire Company announce the death of  Rebbecca Valenti. Becky has been a member of S.M.F.C administrative division since 2007. The officers and members wish to send our condolences to her family and 3 year old daughter.


 
65 and 51 runs accident with entrapment

Today fire Stations 65 and 51 were dispatched to the intersections of Chestnut parkway and Blakeley rd. Chief 65 arrived to find a two car crash with subjects confined to their auto. Crews from Rescue 51 quickly went to work to free the trapped patients.


 
   
   
Nether Providence Fire Department runs car fire

At 19:55 Stations 65 and 51 were dispatched the the intersections of Governors drive and South Providence road for a car fire. Asst 51 was the first to arrive to find a silver passenger vehicle engine compartment well involved. Crews from 65-1 made a quick response followed by squad 51. crews  extinguished fire quickly.


 
   
   
SMFC runs accident

At 14:00 hrs fire companies were dispatched to the blue route north for an accident involving a commercial box truck carrying batteries. Asst 51 responded to find a truck verses guard rail with no injuries and a fuel leak. Crews from rescue 51 secured the fuel leak and cleared the highway.

At 23:23 hrs Medic 23 requested station 51 for assistance in removing a patient from 5 foot deep water trench. 51-9B (Eichelman) arrived on location to find 1 subject down in a trench. 51-9B requested additional  resources from 65 and 51  the crews  from 51 responded quickly with utility 51 followed by squad 51 with the stokes basket 51-12 and crew made a successful rescue of the patient . Units cleared the scene in a half hour.


 
Building Fire in First Due

At 16:50 hours the building assignment was dispatched to 1002 Bent road for a building fire. Squad 51 responded quickly under the leadership of 51-9B (Eichelman). Upon arrival 51-9B gave a report of smoke showing and quickly established command. With a working fire running the ceiling in the homeowners sun porch. 51-12 with his crew made a aggressive attack of the fire which was stopped in the growing stages. Ladder 65 and crew arrived a short time later and assisted in ventilation and overhaul. Thanks to all who worked hard to minimize the damage to the home.


 
   
   
51 and 65 run car accident

At 18:39 just shortly before drill was to begin Stations 51 and 65 with medic and ambulance 23 were dispatched to the intersections of Brookhaven and rose valley roads for a 3 car crash. Asst. Chief  Eichelman was the first to arrive. 51.9B staged the apparatus. Chief Kokonos arrived shortly after and requested crews to assist Pennsylvania State Police with traffic control.

Media Medics evaluated 1 patient and transported 3 others with minor injuries.


 
Members Gather For BBQ and Run Fire Alarm

We would like to thank Wayne and Nancy Borowsky for hosting the S.M.F.C Cook out we all had a great time relaxing and eating good  food. While we were all enjoying time together township companies were dispatched to the 600 block of Baltimore Pike for a fire alarm. Squad 51 and ladder 65 arrived to find an faulty alarm. Units cleared Minutes later.
